Land East of Barbican Road, Looe

The Site

The site extends to around 4.5 hectares (11.1 acres) on the eastern edge of East Looe, on land east of Barbican Road.

It is in a sustainable location, across the road from Looe Community Academy, next to the Barbican sports field and within walking distance of Looe Primary School and bus / rail services.

The site has no overriding planning constraints to development:

  • It is not within the Cornwall National Landscape (formerly AONB), the Heritage Coast or a conservation area.
  • It is not within or near a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) or Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
  • It lies in Flood Zone 1, the lowest probability of flooding from rivers and the sea.
  • There are no listed buildings on the site.
  • A site survey has confirmed the land is Grade 3b agricultural land, which is not classed as best and most versatile agricultural land.
